This is a pattern of Macedonian ancient shield found in modern Republic of Macedonia. This Shield was a part of the standard protective equipment of every heavy infantryman in the army of Philip II and his son Alexander the Great, in the Balkan area also known as Alexander the Macedonian. With shield like this one and the long spear – known as Sarissa, Macedonian infantry was undefeated in defense and unstoppable in attack.
