Mirko Gasparec

His work is characterized by floral and animal ornaments made in deep carving which are technically amazing.
The presence of the symbolism (for example the lion head or the pearls) talk about the freedom in creation of the composition which is connected with the tradition. The traditional, motivated and the religious showing of Jeus’s birth and Jeus baptism in the central part of the symmetrical composition and the floral and animal elements on the other parts. This is characteristic for the new iconostasis for the church “St. Petka” in Tzapari. Inspiration in the woodcarving that is made in the church “St. Jovan Bigorski” most specifically is expressed in the seven birds, trough which are expressed the deep emotions. Also one of the most impressive works is the iconostasis in the church “St. Petka“ in Rockdale, Australia in 2003.

It’s hard to say which is his most important work, because in the past two decades Mirko Gasparec has made many successful and beautiful craves with a permanent meaning in his creation. In 1998 he has made the crave for the church “St. Spas“ in the village Dobrusevo. Together with the others woodcravers he made the iconostasis in the monastery “St. Jovan Bigorski“. In 2000 he made craves dedorations for the new catholic church in Ohrid. Also this year he start to work on the iconostasis for the monastery “St. Jovan Osogovski “ in Kriva Palanaka and the iconostasis in the monastery “St. Jovan “ in Bitola.
