Read more: The icon of The Holy Mother of God Pelagonitisa from 1422 year (from the church of the Monastery of the Holy Transfiguration, Zrze, nearby Prilep) is an exceptionally important work in Macedonian art. The appellation Pelagonitisa came from Pelagonia, the region in Republic of Macedonia where the Monastery and church of the Holy Transfiguration is located, built at a rock over the village Zrze. The icon of the Mother of God Pelagonista, according to the extremely well-preserved inscription on the lower and upper parts of the frame, is the work of Makarie Zograf, the icon-painter, brother of Metropolitan John Zograf, who came from Zrze.

The icon of The Holy Mother of God Pelagonista is one of the most valuable in Macedonian heritage
